  • in buildings which have been classified into the inflammability category of “A” and “B” per rooms or after each 50 square metres at the very least,
  • in the inflammability category of “C” after each 200 square metre floorspace at the very least,
  • in the inflammability category of “D” after each 800 square metre floorspace at the very least,
  • in the inflammability category of “E” according to need.

Law and state regulations, in contrast to the above- mentioned, may also state that further fire-extinguishers, pieces of device, equipment and materials have to be employed. Fire-extinguishers, pieces of device, equipment and materials have to be placed near the exit or the place at risk within sight, they have to be easily available and always have to be kept in  a usable state being in working order, they are not allowed to be removed or used differently from what they have been designed for.

Fire-extinguisher is a device which, when it is in working order, discharges the extinguishing agent controllably due to the pressure of released or generated propellant (gas).

Extinguishing agent is the fire-extinguisher’s load or the part of its load which is suitable for fire extinguishing.

Propellant is the part of the fire-extinguisher’s load which discharges the extinguishing agent of the device.
